Festival
Darwin’s Birthday Festival brings together students, faculty and the community for the celebration on the Hayden Lawn on the Tempe campus of Arizona State University between noon and 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2009.
Reptiles, bones and beagles are just a few highlights, in addition to birthday tea. There’s something for the whole family, including displays, games, tours, and more.
Darwin Look-Alike Contest
Are you the next Darwin? Or just a Darwin-wannabe? Enter the Darwin Look-alike Contest and join the other contestants on the main stage vying to take the title. Old Darwin, Young Darwin, and Evolution theme prizes!
Beagle Adoption
You can’t get anywhere without a Beagle. To honor Darwin’s boat, HMS Beagle, and the life-altering adventures it brought with it, ASU Darwinfest has partnered with the Arizona Beagle Rescue. Come meet the beagles, pet a few loving heads and take one home!

Darwin TimeLine
History comes to life, with Les Landrum, curator of the ASU Herbarium, and his tale about the evolution of Darwin’s life, covering the last third of Darwin’s life.
Reptiles and Bones
Snakes! live and in person. Dale DeNardo, professor in School of Life Sciences, and Anthony Gill, curator of ASU Collections, will be on site with interactive displays. Come pet a snake and celebrate the diversity of life.
Beaks of Finches Contest/Game
Are you at the top of the seed chain? Come try your luck and may the best beak win!

The Living Collection - self guided tour
The largest collection of Arizona’s rattlesnake species is housed in the Life Sciences A-Building, as well as Gila monsters, lizards and more. Come take a walk with denizens of the desert.
